Job summary

H-E-B in Houston, TX seeks a Food Service Representative to maintain a well-stocked, clean department and deliver superior customer service daily. You will prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products while upholding food safety standards and sanitation across Bakery, Deli, and Prepared Foods areas.

You will interact with customers, take orders, assist with selections, and apply basic product knowledge to drive department sales in a fast-paced retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Provides superior customer service
• Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
• Answers customer questions regarding products; assists them with selections
• Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
• Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
• Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
• Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs
• Cleans and sanitizes display cases
• Operates / maintains equipment properly
• Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
• Complies with department / Store operating procedures
• Bakery: records production and shrink to aid in production planning; assists in technical areas; culls products for poor quality
• Deli: takes care of service counter Customers; uses ordering system applications; performs inventory management processes; ensures catering orders are prepared for pickup; maintains slicers sanitation
• Prepared Foods: serves / packages products; educates customers on prep/reheat; prepackages condiments; prepares ingredients for chef
