Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market in Las Cruces, NM is hiring a Deli Clerk to help customers choose healthy options and prepare fresh, ready-to-eat meals. You will present and package deli items, maintain cleanliness, and rotate stock while following safety standards.

The role requires flexibility for nights, weekends, and holidays, plus reliable teamwork and strong communication. Training includes operating slicers, ovens, and scales in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Be dependable and reliable.
• Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication skills; the ability to take direction and work in a team.
• Ability to answer phones and take special orders.
• Lift/carry up to 70 lbs. up to 20 feet for up to 4 hours.
• Stand up to 4 hours per shift (8 hours total).
• Housekeeping: clean and sanitize work area; operate deli equipment safely.
• Adhere to safety, health, and regulatory requirements; obtain Food Handlers permit.
• Work in coolers and freezers.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting fresh and easy meals.
• Provide high level customer service and ensure deli items are prepared, packaged, and presented; keep deli area clean.
• Fill, rotate, and display products.
• Prepare special orders and party trays.
• Operate meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment.
• Maintain a clean, safe deli area and equipment; sweep floors and remove hazards.
• Receive, inspect, and log products for shipment quality and temperature.
