Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is hiring a Deli Clerk to assist customers, prepare fresh and easy meals, and maintain a clean, appealing deli area. You will help with packaging, labeling, and presenting deli items while ensuring food safety and product quality.

You’ll operate slicers and kitchen equipment, handle special orders and party trays, rotate stock, and keep the department organized and safe. Flexibility for various shifts and strong customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent and experience working in grocery, restaurant, or related field; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Be dependable and reliable.
• Outgoing, friendly behavior with a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• Able to answer phones and take special orders.
• Must be able to lift/carry product weighing up to 70 lbs., up to 20 feet, for up to 4 hours.
• Stand for up to 4 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift.
• General housekeeping; clean and sanitize work area.
• Operate a slicer and other deli equipment; maintain equipment safety.
• Adhere to safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations; obtain a Food Handlers permit.
• Work in cooler and freezer environments.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Assisting customers in making healthy food choices by preparing fresh and easy meals.
• Providing high level of customer service and ensuring deli items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, with cleanliness.
• Filling, maintaining, and rotating products and displays.
• Preparing special orders and party trays.
• Operating meat and cheese slicers, ovens, microwaves, cutting tools, scales, and other deli equipment.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary deli area and equipment.
• Receiving, inspecting, and logging products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality.
