Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a dedicated Train Conductor to safely manage freight trains. You will learn to couple railcars, deliver cars to customers, and operate trains over long distances, with full training provided.

You must be available 24/7 on short notice and be prepared for 2-3 days away from home weekly. The role requires passing FRA safety requirements, joining a union within 60 days of training completion, and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be available to work on-call, 24/7 with as little as 90 minutes’ notice.
• High physical stamina for outdoor work in all weather conditions.
• Experience with heavy equipment or demanding roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling, drawbars, hand brakes, and railcar movement.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA and company safety rules.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
