Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a Train Conductor who will lead the safe and efficient movement of freight trains. You will build trains, couple railcars, and manage inspections while reporting incidents and ensuring safety compliance.

Training is provided with no prior railroad experience required, and you will join a union within 60 days after training. You must be available 24/7 with short notice, spend 2–3 days away from home each week, and bid on regular assignments as you gain seniority.

Qualifications

• Seniority-based, extra board role before bidding on regular assignment.
• Must be available for 24/7 on-call with 90 minutes notice.
• Requires ability to spend 2-3 days away from home weekly.
• Must join a union within 60 days after completing training.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling, alignment, hand brakes tasks.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA and company safety regulations.
