Job summary

Norfolk Southern is looking for a Train Conductor to safely assemble trains, couple railcars, deliver to customers and oversee inspections. You will receive comprehensive training and then advance through on-the-job experience to earn promotion and certification.

The role requires flexibility, 24/7 on-call availability, and willingness to work 2–3 days away from home weekly. You must meet safety and FRA requirements, with strong teamwork and a commitment to our SPIRIT values.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to report to work within 90 minutes.
• Clean driving record in the past 36 months with no major incidents.
• Must pass FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling tasks.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with safety regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
