Job summary

Roadrunner is hiring an Operations Support to provide critical administrative and operational backing for inbound and outbound freight, ensuring documents stay accurate and drivers stay on schedule. The role serves as a central point between drivers, operations, customers, and internal teams in a fast-paced, Chicago environment.

You will handle daily freight operations, maintain documentation accuracy, and coordinate customer communications with a proactive, detail-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-3 years of administrative, logistics, transportation, operations support, customer service, or related experience.
• Strong knowledge of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and professional written communication.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal teams, customers, vendors, and external partners.
• Proficient typing skills, including the ability to type approximately 35-40 words per minute.
• Basic mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Support daily freight operations including driver check-in and manifest distribution.
• Coordinate administrative activities for inbound and outbound freight processing.
• Monitor workflow status and elevate issues impacting service levels.
• Provide operational support to help drivers depart on schedule and meet customer commitments.
• Review and ensure accuracy of Bills of Lading, Delivery Receipts, and related documents.
• Scan, file, and manage operational records per procedures.
• Manage communication with customers for appointment scheduling and updates.
• Escalate issues to ensure timely resolution and positive customer experience.
• Assist with OS&D freight issues and coordinate with shippers and internal teams.
• Backfill office responsibilities during PTO and staffing coverage, maintaining organization and accuracy.
