Job summary

XPO, Inc. in Normal, IL is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations. The role emphasizes developing procedures to meet evolving department needs and ensuring timely, damage-free customer deliveries across shifts.

The successful candidate will manage workloads, schedule hourly staff, enforce FMCSR/DOT policies and coach the team on safety and quality. This is a hands-on leadership role with incentive opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain or similar environment.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and administrative functions.
• Plan hourly employee schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs.
• Enforce all company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Implement policies to optimize network performance and compliance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach employees on proper techniques and quality requirements and conduct evaluations.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals and develop action plans.
• Participate in internal safety and engagement committees and training.
• Monitor organization within shifts to ensure safety and productivity.
• Communicate corporate messages and policy revisions to all team members.
• Inspect tools and equipment and address unsafe conditions.
• Provide improvement ideas for operations and service center performance.
• Champion XPO values and uphold high standards within the team.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading while maintaining quality.
