Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor in Illinois to oversee all freight operations and supervise hourly staff while implementing efficient work procedures. You will manage workloads, schedules, and safety compliance to meet production goals and reduce costs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff and be the primary point of contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll and other admin tasks.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily operations goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce company policies and DOT regulations to optimize network performance.
• Ensure freight is processed, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach employees and conduct new hire evaluations; issue corrective actions if needed.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Assist in hiring decisions and action plans for load average and compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees and train on safety rules.
