Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. in Warren, OH seeks a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead all aspects of freight operations, ensuring on-time, damage-free delivery and effective shift coverage. You will develop procedures, assign workloads, coach staff, and enforce key regulations across the network.

The role includes safety supervision and cost-control responsibilities. You will manage workloads, schedule personnel, and drive performance while upholding FMCSR, OSHA and DOT policies.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain or similar environment.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Availability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department needs.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and act as primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage, payroll and other administrative duties.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Implement applicable policies and procedures to optimize network performance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach and develop employees, conduct new hire evaluations and manage corrective actions.
• Direct a team to consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Assist in hiring decisions, suspensions and terminations.
• Develop action plans to improve load averages and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees and train on safety rules.
• Maintain organization within the shift to ensure safety and productivity.
• Lead daily staff meetings and communicate updates to all team members.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and address any issues.
• Provide improvements ideas for operations and act as a champion of XPO values.
• Prioritize direct loading to minimize rehandles while maintaining quality standards.
