Job summary

New York City Department of Transportation is seeking a Community Coordinator to support the Freight Mobility Unit and contribute to the NYC Streets Plan and Better Buses. The role focuses on corridor planning, public outreach, and stakeholder engagement related to transit priority, freight movement, curb management, and street design.

You will coordinate with Transit Development, Parking, Traffic Operations, and Borough Offices to balance transit improvements with commercial loading and freight

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with two years of related community work experience, or a high school diploma with six years of related experience.
• Education/experience equivalent to the above, with at least one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal NYCDOT units to balance transit improvements with commercial loading and freight access needs.
• Develop presentations, public materials, and outreach strategies for community boards, BIDs, trucking associations, and freight stakeholders.
• Engage with neighborhood organizations to identify opportunities where transit and freight initiatives complement each other to improve safety, mobility, and curb efficiency.
• Support data collection and stakeholder outreach to identify delivery needs and curb management solutions such as loading zones and off-hour delivery accommodations.
