Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Transportation seeks a City Planner to support freight movement and transit priority initiatives. You will coordinate with Transit Development, Parking and Traffic Operations to balance commercial loading with transit improvements, and assist with public materials and outreach for diverse stakeholders.

Ideal candidates bring policy, planning, and analytics experience, and a valid NY driver’s license. Residency rules and the 55-a Program may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required with two years of city planning experience or equivalent.
• Graduate education can substitute for experience per policy, but degree is required.
• Knowledge of transportation policy, planning, operations and technology is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with internal NYCDOT units to balance transit improvements with loading and freight access.
• Develop presentations, public materials, and outreach strategies for boards, BIDs and freight stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities where transit and freight initiatives complement each other to improve safety and curb utilization.
• Support data collection and stakeholder outreach for curb management and neighborhood loading zones.
