Overview: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Freight Manager to oversee our logistics operations with a primary focus on implementing and optimizing a Transportation Management System (TMS). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freight management, supply chain logistics, and TMS implementation, ensuring seamless integration with existing business processes to enhance efficiency, cost control, and visibility.
Salary: $83,000 and up, depending on experience
What you'll do:
- Lead the selection, implementation, and ongoing optimization of a TMS to streamline freight and logistics operations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors to ensure smooth system integration.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve freight efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Analyze and manage freight operations, including carrier selection, contract negotiations, pricing bids, and performance tracking.
- Establish and monitor KPIs related to freight costs, transit times, carrier performance, and system efficiency.
- Train and support team members on TMS functionality and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and industry best practices.
- Identify and resolve system-related issues, working closely with IT and third-party providers.
- Develop reporting and data analysis tools to provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in logistics technology to maintain a competitive edge.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in freight management, logistics, or transportation.
- Proven experience in implementing or managing a TMS (e.g., Shipwell, MercuryGate, Oracle, SAP, Blue Yonder, etc.).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage cross-functional teams and vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of freight regulations, compliance, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, data analytics tools, and logistics software.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP integration and automation in logistics operations.
- Familiarity with freight auditing, optimization strategies, and predictive analytics.
- Certification in supply chain management or logistics (e.g., CSCP, CLTD, CITT, or similar).
