Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Dockworker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading and unloading.

You will operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, verify freight documentation, secure cargo inside trailers and assist customers as needed.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 18, and capable of lifting heavy loads in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Experience with warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift operations preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, pallet jack and hand truck for freight handling.
• Verify freight documentation matches description (type, weight, hazmat).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
