Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading to trailers. The role requires operating a forklift, pallet jack and hand truck, verifying freight paperwork and securing loads inside trailers.

The position runs 1700–2200 with duties including documentation verification, loading/unloading, and maintaining safety and accuracy in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Hostler/yard mule duties experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift/carry hand freight and operate dock equipment.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, and push/pull freight as needed.
• Work independently and/or as part of a team.
• Previous dock/warehouse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
