Job summary

Solomon Page is seeking a Freelance Associate Technical Designer for knits to join a NYC fashion team supporting product development from concept through production. You will ensure consistent fit standards, evaluate garment construction, facilitate fit sessions, and communicate product updates with internal teams and vendors throughout the development process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 2-3+ years of Technical Design experience within apparel or fashion.
• Strong patternmaking skills required.
• Knits experience preferred.
• Thorough understanding of garment construction, fit, and product development processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively across Design, Production, Merchandising, and Vendor teams.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate proto, fit, and production samples to ensure measurement accuracy, fit, quality, and construction standards are met.
• Lead and facilitate garment fit sessions.
• Partner closely with Design and Production teams to achieve desired fit and aesthetic goals.
• Communicate fit comments, pattern corrections, and construction revisions to vendors.
• Represent company standards for fit consistency and garment construction.
• Create and maintain fit reports, sample tracking documents, and development records.
• Track sample status and ensure timely communication throughout the product lifecycle.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external partners to support product development milestones.
• Participate in in-person fittings, approvals, and product development meetings as business needs require.
• Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.
