Job summary

HaloBraid is seeking a Freelance Social Media Manager to lead the day-to-day organic social strategy, content creation, and community engagement. You will shoot, edit, write captions, and publish across TikTok, Instagram, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms while staying ahead of trends.

You will own content calendars, track KPIs, and collaborate with the marketing team to build awareness, trust, and excitement ahead of launch.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in social media, content creation, community, influencer marketing, brand marketing, or a related role.
• Experience growing TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or other platforms from scratch.
• Loves social media, stays up-to-date with trends and platform changes.
• Fluent in short-form video, hooks, pacing, captions, and memes.
• Hands-on content creation: concepting, shooting, editing, copywriting, posting.
• Comfortable on camera and helping others feel natural on screen.
• Passionate about beauty and hair care, with a community focus.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day organic social strategy, calendars, planning, posting cadence and testing.

• Identify trends and moments for authentic HaloBraid participation.
• Develop recurring ideas and series to build awareness and community.
• Capture BTS content with team, stylists, and brand moments.

• Support events, creator moments, and brand storytelling with the team.

About Us

HaloBraid is a technology company using breakthrough engineering to help people perform routines faster. We’re building the world’s first robotic hair-braiding that works with professional stylists to reduce braiding appointments from hours to minutes and grow their business. Our product has already gone viral, generating millions of views across social platforms, building a fast-growing community of stylists, braid wearers, beauty lovers, and early believers excited for what’s next. This role will help transform our early traction into a dedicated and nurtured community.

We’re looking for a social media-obsessed highly creative Freelance Social Media Manager to help bring HaloBraid to life across social platforms and in the community. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves creating content, following trends, shooting and editing short-form video, writing captions, engaging with audiences, and building digital community from the ground up.

Responsibilities

• Own HaloBraid’s day-to-day organic social strategy, including content calendars, platform planning, posting cadence, and creative testing.

• Concept, create, shoot, edit, caption, and publish social content across TikTok, Instagram, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging platforms.

• Identify trends, sounds, memes, conversations, and cultural moments that HaloBraid can participate in authentically.

• Develop recurring content ideas and series that build awareness, trust, community, and excitement ahead of launch.

• Capture behind-the-scenes content with the HaloBraid team, stylists, community members, product demos, events, and brand moments.

• Own day-to-day community engagement, including comments, DMs, tagged posts, mentions, and social listening.

• Track social performance, report on KPIs, and use data to adjust strategy, improve content, and drive growth.

• Support community events, interviews, creator moments, and brand storytelling across the broader marketing and community team.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of experience in social media, content creation, community, influencer marketing, brand marketing, or a related role.

• Experience creating or growing your own or brand TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, or other platform from scratch.

• Loves social media, is chronically online and enjoys keeping up with trends.

• Deep fluency in TikTok, Instagram, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and emerging social platforms.

• Strong short-form video instincts. You understand hooks, pacing, captions, trends, sounds, memes, and what makes people share.

• Hands-on content creation experience, including concepting, shooting, editing, writing copy, and posting.

• Comfortable being on camera and helping others feel comfortable on camera too.

• Passion for beauty, hair care, hair trends, textured hair, braiding, salons, and community.

• Strong taste level and an understanding of what feels fresh, premium, funny, culturally relevant, and socially native.

• Independent, organized, proactive, and excited to work in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Haves

• Work experience at a beauty, hair care, fashion, lifestyle, consumer, or creator-led brand.

• Experience with CapCut, Canva, Figma, Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Lightroom, or similar tools.

Remote / Hybrid Work

HaloBraid is based in Cambridge, MA. We have a preference for candidates who are NYC-based candidates who can work remotely day-to-day and travel to Cambridge regularly for team meetings, content shoots, events, and key brand moments.
