Job summary

ContextGlobal is seeking on-site ASL interpreters to support our clients across Washington, DC. This is an in-person position with assignments performed on location at client sites in the District.

We hire both certified and non-certified interpreters. Certified interpreters are matched to assignments that require certification; skilled non-certified interpreters are welcome for assignments that do not.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred).
• At least two years of experience as an ASL interpreter.
• Proficient signing and voicing skills.
• Strong knowledge of educational, corporate, and community vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culture.

Role Expectations

• Provide effective communication facilitation between multiple parties, working to and from ASL and English
• Understand cultural and linguistic differences between communities and respond accordingly

Certification

We are hiring both certified and non-certified interpreters. Certified interpreters (RID, NAD IV or V, or a BEI equivalent) are matched to assignments that require certification, and skilled non-certified interpreters are welcome for assignments that do not.

Required Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred)
• At least two years of experience as an ASL interpreter
• Proficient signing and voicing skills
• Strong knowledge of educational, corporate, and community vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culture

Pay

Competitive rates, based on experience and certification. Net 30 payments, direct deposit.

Pre-Employment Screenings

Community assignments do not require clearance. To work within schools, you will need to complete the appropriate clearance process, including fingerprinting, background clearance, and a possible drug test and training videos. This clearance is not required to interpret with us as an on-site interpreter, but completing it opens more assignments to you. Where costs are involved, ContextGlobal reimburses them once you are cleared, with an invoice and a valid copy of the receipt of payment.
