Job summary

ContextGlobal, Inc. is seeking ASL interpreters to support students, staff, and community members across Montgomery County Public Schools. Interpreters may work on student, staff, and ADA assignments with attention to educational vocabulary and Deaf culture.

We hire both certified and non-certified interpreters, offering competitive rates and Net 30 payments. Freelance assignments are prioritized, with an employee option for the right fit.

Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing.
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program; accredited programs preferred.
• One year of experience as an ASL interpreter or recent graduate of an accredited program.

ContextGlobal is seeking ASL interpreters to provide support to students, staff, and community members across Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS).

Role Expectations

• Provide effective communication facilitation between multiple parties, working to and from ASL and English
• Understand cultural and linguistic differences between communities and respond accordingly

Certification

We are hiring both certified and non-certified interpreters. Assignments are matched to your credentials:

• Non-certified interpreters with strong skills are needed for student and community assignments
• Certified interpreters (RID, NAD IV or V, or a BEI equivalent) are needed for staff, employee, and ADA assignments

Required Qualifications

• Fluency in American Sign Language and English voicing
• Completion of an Interpreter Training Program (graduates of accredited programs preferred)
• One year of experience as an ASL interpreter, or recent graduate of an accredited Interpreter Training Program
• Proficient signing and voicing skills
• Strong knowledge of educational vocabulary, ASL, and Deaf culture

• Strong understanding of cultural and linguistic differences between communities

Pay

$45 to $65 per hour, based on experience and certifications. Net 30 payments, direct deposit.

Pre-Employment Screenings

Because this work is in public schools, every assignment requires clearance. You will begin the criminal background check and fingerprinting process through MCPS or an MCPS-approved agency before your onboarding with us is complete, and clearance must be finished before your first assignment. ContextGlobal will reimburse the cost of the fingerprinting once you are cleared. An invoice must be provided with a valid copy of the receipt of payment.
