Job summary

URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc. is seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator to support the Design Team with administrative duties in a fast-paced environment.

You will help organize development, track timelines, and coordinate with buyers, brand leaders and CFT partners to ensure design intent is realized across styles. You will manage style numbers, BOM updates, and development packages, while preparing materials for monthly reviews.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level knowledge of apparel construction required or preferred.
  • Entry-level understanding of the design development process.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an active role in weekly meetings; capture notes and follow-up with Design.
  • Support seasonal development calendar with cross-functional partners.
  • Organize design tools and propose new processes to meet deadlines.
  • Manage development status, trim and artwork packages, and BOM updates.
  • Create style numbers and tech packs; review garments for accuracy with Brand teams.
  • Collaborate with CFTs to track styles in development and ensure alignment with specs.
  • Prepare development packages and assist in communication for each package.
  • Review incoming garments with Designers and CFT to ensure alignment with intent.
  • Assist in sample prep for monthly sketch and sample reviews with Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Coordinate daily pickups from B543 sourcing department and perform ad hoc tasks.

Role Summary

Free People Assistant Design Coordinator- Structured Team

The Assistant Design Coordinator supports the Design Team with administrative duties and tasks as

needed in support of the creation process, development and execution of own brand product.

Role Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain an active role in the weekly CFT Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Design.
  • Support the seasonal development calendar in partnership with design, buying, technical design, and PD/production.
  • Help organize design tools and propose new processes to help the design team meet upcoming design deadlines.
  • Execute specific design development projects as assigned from Design by managing development status and tracking of trim and artwork packages.
  • Own style number and tech pack creation for all styles.
  • Assist Design with BOM updates throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with CFTs on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in the style development process.
  • Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
  • Review incoming garments with Designer and CFT partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
  • Assist in sample preparation for monthly sketch and sample review meetings by collaborating with Design on innovative presentations that effectively communicate the line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Responsible for daily package pickups from B543 sourcing department.
  • Perform special tasks as needed.
Role Qualifications

Skills:

  • Strong sense of organizational skills and passion for a fast speed environment
  • Proactiveness and self-motivation is a must for this role
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft platforms
  • Strong and effective communication skills are required to interact with designers, buyers, and other CFT partners
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process
  • Design tools knowledge that are a nice to have: PLM, VibeIQ, Figma, Generative AI Assistants (Gemini, Claude)

Qualifications

  • Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction
  • Entry level knowledge design processes
  • Ability to clearly communicate

Location:

This role is fiully in person/in office- Navy Yard (5 days in office)
