Job summary

URBN is seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator in Philadelphia to support the design team with admin tasks across the development process. You will manage style numbers, tech packs, BOM updates, and collaboration with CFTs to ensure product execution aligns with brand standards.

The role requires organizational skills, proactivity, and strong communication in a fast-paced environment, with on-site work five days a week.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active role in weekly cross-functional team meetings and track follow-up.
  • Support development calendar with design, buying, and PD/production.
  • Organize design tools and improve processes to meet deadlines.
  • Manage development status, trim and artwork packages.
  • Create style numbers and tech packs; update trackers daily.
  • Assist with BOM updates throughout product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with CFTs to ensure on-track style development.
  • Prepare development packages and manage follow-up communications.
  • Review incoming garments for alignment with intent and brand standards.
  • Assist in sample prep for monthly sketch and review meetings.

Job description

Role Summary

Free People is seeking an Assistant Design Coordinator who will support the Design Team with administrative duties and tasks as needed in support of the creation process, development and execution of own brand product.

Role Responsibilities
  • Maintain an active role in the weekly CFT Meetings. Take notes and manage follow up communication on all outstanding issues in collaboration with Design.
  • Support the seasonal development calendar in partnership with design, buying, technical design, and PD/production.
  • Help organize design tools and propose new processes to help design team meet upcoming design deadlines.
  • Execute specific design development projects as assigned from Design by managing development status and tracking of trim and artwork packages.
  • Own style number and tech pack creation for all market styles as well as daily updates on class style trackers.
  • Assist Design with BOM updates throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with CFTs on the status of styles in development daily to ensure product execution meets design specifications and are on track in style development process.
  • Prepare development packages and participate in follow up communication related to each package.
  • Review incoming garments with Designer and CFT partners to ensure they are correct and in line with original intent as well as brand standards.
  • Assist in sample preparation for monthly sketch and sample review meetings by collaborating with Design on innovative presentations that effectively communicate line to Buyers and Brand leaders.
  • Perform special tasks as needed.
Role Qualifications

Skills

  • Strong sense of organizational skills and passion for a fast speed environment
  • Proactiveness and self-motivation is a must for this role
  • Proficient in Google Suite and Microsoft platforms
  • Strong and effective communication skills are required to interact with designers, buyers, and other CFT partners
  • Excellent relationship building skills and ability to intuitively respond and reprioritize as needs shift during the development process
  • Design tools knowledge that are a nice to have: PLM, Figma, Generative AI Assistants (Gemini, Claude)

Qualifications

  • Entry level technical knowledge of apparel construction
  • Entry level knowledge design processes
  • Ability to clearly communicate

On-site in person 5 days a week Philadelphia, PA
