Job summary

MSU Federal Credit Union in East Lansing, MI is seeking an Account Fraud Investigator to monitor accounts and transactions for fraudulent activity across multiple channels. The role supports risk mitigation and loss prevention while ensuring member funds remain secure.

The position offers onsite or hybrid work arrangements (1-2 days/week) with standard 40-hour weeks and a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off and tuition reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required, with preferred higher education in related fields.
• Bachelor's degree or in pursuit preferred in business, finance, criminal justice, or related field.
• Prior experience in the financial industry is required.

Responsibilities

• Review applications, access points, accounts, and transactions for fraudulent activity and take appropriate action to prevent fraud losses.
• Investigate fraud claims across check, ACH, bill pay, wire, M2M and other non-card channels in accordance with laws and procedures.
• Interview members by phone or messaging systems promptly and professionally when addressing fraud.
• Educate and advise members on security, reporting, and resolving negative balances from fraud.
• Handle escalated members' situations and take appropriate action to resolve them.
• Document all account review efforts and actions taken to ensure accurate information for staff and management.
• Apply regulatory requirements under Regulations E and Z and perform due diligence under KYC/CIP guidelines.
• Adhere to internal controls to safeguard assets and maintain operational integrity.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's degree (or in pursuit) in business, finance, criminal justice, or related area of study is preferred
