The Maryland Department of Labor, Division of Unemployment Insurance, seeks a UI Professional I to process unemployment claims, interview applicants, and verify information for accurate determinations.

This full-time role offers hybrid telework up to two days per week, training, and a pathway to contribute to Maryland residents’ economic stability while ensuring high-quality service and compliance with state laws.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience in a public or private agency determining eligibility for a Human Service Program.
• Bachelor's degree may substitute for the required experience.
• Experience with benefits review and determination.
• Experience working in a call center environment.

Responsabilités

• Provide excellent customer service while answering questions and completing applications for unemployment insurance benefits.
• Explain and interpret unemployment laws to employers, claimants, and the public by phone in a professional manner.
• Collect and enter information to complete a claimant’s telephone application for unemployment benefits.
• Communicate with other states via the UIMAIL-ICON Network for interstate claims.
• Ensure prompt and accurate payment by reviewing claim history to identify fraud.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve problems for unemployment claims to keep them up to date.
• Review information to ensure correct employers are linked to the claim and verify accuracy after filing.
