Job summary

Amplēo HR is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead client payrolls across multiple organizations. You will own end-to-end payroll operations, work across diverse systems, and deliver accurate and timely payroll for several clients while maintaining compliance and strong client relationships.

The role rewards autonomy, variety, and the chance to develop judgment by managing payroll across states, systems, and industries. This is a consultant role with impact and ownership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience and strong payroll expertise.
• Proficiency with multiple payroll systems and compliance knowledge across states.
• Experience consulting across client environments and managing client relationships.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Payroll Operations: own processing from timekeeping data through approval, funding, and delivery.
• Payroll Systems & HRIS: lead system selection, implementation, migration, and integration.
• Payroll Tax & Compliance: manage federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and notices.
• Multi-State & Local Tax exposure: proactively identify and resolve issues.
• Garnishments & Deductions: administer garnishments and pre/post-tax deductions.
• Audits & Controls: conduct payroll audits and design internal controls.
• Process Improvement: identify gaps and implement improvements.
• Accounting & Finance Alignment: coordinate with client finance teams for GL mapping and reporting.
• Benefits & Time Integration: ensure data flow into payroll.
• Payroll Analytics & Reporting: analyze data and provide visibility into spend and risk.
• Employee Payroll Support: address inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
