Amazon Web Services, Inc. in San Francisco seeks a hands-on technical leader to act as a fractional CTO for a diverse startup portfolio. You will prototype architectures with founders, demo working solutions, and guide GenAI adoption from concept to production.

You’ll influence product direction by translating startup needs into practical architecture and technology choices. You will stay technically sharp, mentor founders, and build relationships across the SF startup ecosystem, YC, and leading

Qualifications

• 4+ years of technology domain experience in software, cloud, networks, or data & analytics.
• 2+ years in design, implementation, or consulting for applications and infrastructure.
• Hands-on GenAI experience with foundation models, agents, or RAG.
• Experience conveying technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.

Responsabilités

• Act as a trusted technical advisor to a portfolio of early-stage founders, designing architectures right-sized for today and scalable for tomorrow.
• Get hands-on: prototype, build reference patterns, and demo working solutions with founders.
• Explain architectures built by coding agents and decisions behind them to founders.
• Navigate GenAI landscape and select foundation models and AI services for production-ready products.
• Guide founders through building GenAI applications, including cost, latency, and safety considerations.
• Help founders make pragmatic build-and-scale decisions, keeping architectures disposable yet adaptable.
• Stay technically sharp by experimenting with new models and tools to advise credibly across the stack.
• Build relationships across San Francisco's startup ecosystem and top accelerators like YC.
• Be a voice for founders, feeding feedback to AWS product and engineering teams.
• Spot emerging technology trends and translate signals into AWS roadmaps.
• Share expertise at startup events and developer meetups to build trust in the community.
