Vessel Advisors is seeking independent Fractional Controllers with Sage 100 expertise to manage one or more client accounting functions remotely. This contract role requires controller experience and Sage 100 proficiency, with flexibility for full-time hire for the right candidate.

You will own the close, prepare financial statements, strengthen controls, and collaborate with Fractional CFOs to deliver client outcomes. Remote, part-time to potentially full-time engagements are available.

Formación

• Controller experience with full ownership of close and financial reporting.
• Recent Sage 100 experience including GL and core financial modules.
• Strong US GAAP, accrual accounting, and reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills; Sage 100 reporting tools a plus.
• Able to manage multiple client engagements independently.

Responsabilidades

• Lead month-end and year-end close in Sage 100, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements and management reporting.
• Review and improve accounting workflows, internal controls, and Sage 100 setup across GL, AP, AR, and other modules.
• Oversee and mentor client bookkeeping and AP/AR staff.
• Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis with Fractional CFOs.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on audits, reviews, and tax preparation.
• Communicate financial results clearly to owners and non-financial stakeholders.

Vessel Advisors is an accounting and advisory firm that provides tailored financial solutions to a diverse portfolio of small and mid-sized businesses. We are building a bench of independent Fractional Controllers with deep Sage 100 expertise to support client engagements on a part-time, contract basis.

In this role, you will own the accounting function for one or more clients running Sage 100: closing the books, producing reliable financial statements, and strengthening the processes and controls behind them. You will work remotely, manage your own client load, and partner closely with client leadership and our Fractional CFOs.

This is a fully remote, independent contractor role open to candidates anywhere in the United States. Sage 100 experience and prior controller experience are both required. Please do not apply without both. This is a contract role, but we are open to hiring the right person full time as well.

Responsibilities

• Lead the month-end and year-end close in Sage 100, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
• Prepare accurate, timely financial statements and management reporting.

• Oversee and mentor client bookkeeping and AP/AR staff.
• Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and variance analysis alongside our Fractional CFOs.
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on audits, reviews, and tax preparation.
• Communicate financial results clearly to owners and non-financial stakeholders.

• Controller experience (required): prior experience serving as a controller, with full ownership of the close and financial reporting.
• Sage 100 expertise (required): hands-on, recent experience working in Sage 100 (formerly MAS 90/200), including the general ledger and core financial modules.
• Strong command of US GAAP, accrual accounting, and account reconciliation.
• Advanced Excel skills; experience with Sage 100 reporting tools is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements at once.
• Clear, professional communication with business owners and executives.
• Based in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred; CPA a plus.
