Job summary

Nichols Contracting, Inc. in Columbia, MD is seeking a highly analytical FP&A Manager to lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial modeling.

You will own the rolling 24-month budget, build executive dashboards, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions across the organization.

The ideal candidate has 5–7 years in FP&A or corporate finance within construction, advanced Excel modeling, and strong collaboration with operations.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience.
• Construction industry experience (general contractor, subcontractor or construction-focused CPA firm).
• Advanced financial modeling in Excel: driver-based forecasts, three-statement models, scenario analysis, and clean, auditable model design.
• Working knowledge of construction accounting: percentage-of-completion revenue, WIP schedules, over/under billings, retention and job cost.
• Experience building dashboards in a BI tool (Power BI, Tableau or similar).
• The ability to explain financial results clearly to non-finance leaders.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Budgeting and forecasting: Own the rolling 12-month budget and forecast model.
• Dashboards and KPIs: Build and maintain the finance KPI dashboard and leadership reporting in our BI platform.
• Cash forecasting: Move the 13-week rolling cash forecast to a dependable weekly process.
• WIP and financial statements: Support WIP schedule, margin fade analysis, and reporting.
• Business partnering: Analyze job profitability, overhead allocation, and backlog; coach division leaders on P&Ls.
• Systems: Improve data movement between Sage 300 CRE, Procore, ExakTime and BI tools; participate in ERP selection.
