Job summary

Milestone is a fast-growing professional services firm providing outsourced accounting and HR solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. As FP&A Manager in FinOps, you will lead client engagements from planning through delivery, managing teams, timelines and budgets while acting as a hands-on partner to clients and the Milestone CFO team.

This is a remote-first, full-time exempt role with occasional travel to Carmel, Indiana (1–2 times per year).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 6+ years FP&A or accounting with leadership of engagements or teams.
• Strong Excel and Google Sheets proficiency.
• Proven project management with scope, timelines and budgets.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
• Experience supporting fundraising (equity/debt) is a plus.
• CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements from planning through delivery, building project plans, managing timelines and scope, and quoting ad-hoc work as it arises
• Manage, train, and mentor team members from Associate through Senior Analyst, ensuring quality work product delivered on time and on budget
• Serve as a hands-on thought partner to clients, identifying the key metrics and levers that connect financial KPIs to operational goals
• Partner with the Milestone CFO team to execute financing strategy, including equity and debt raises
• Lead difficult conversations, manage client expectations, and support renewal scope-of-work discussions
• Build and maintain client forecasts, 13-week cash flows, and KPI reporting in Google Sheets, creating new standard templates where needed
• Review models for logic, stress-test them, and refine them so clients can easily digest the results
• Implement department-wide QA standards and SOPs, standardize work-papers, and resolve high-stakes data discrepancies
• Evaluate how to use AI effectively and securely to improve the client and employee experience and the quality of our deliverables
• Keep the department running smoothly through accurate timekeeping, budget and utilization tracking, task management, and billing updates

About the Position:

This is a remote position with overnight travel to Carmel, Indiana, one to two times per year.

As FP&A Manager in our FinOps department, you'll lead client engagements from planning through delivery, managing team members, timelines, and budgets while serving as a hands‑on thought partner to our clients and the Milestone CFO team. This is a full‑time, exempt role.

You’ll work in a modern tech stack that includes QuickBooks Online, Fathom, Liveflow, Karbon, Google Workspace, and Claude.

• Excellent quantitative skills and strong experience in Excel and Google Sheets
• Demonstrated project management skills, including scope, timeline, and budget management
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Proven ability to lead in ambiguous, fast‑changing environments and to master new software quickly
• Experience supporting fundraising activity, including equity and debt raises (preferred)
• CPA, CFA, or MBA (a plus)
• A dedicated remote workspace with a professional background and a strong, reliable internet connection
