Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an FP&A Manager based in the United States. As an FP&A Manager, you will lead financial planning and analysis engagements, helping small and mid‑sized businesses make informed, data‑driven decisions. You will oversee client projects from initial planning through delivery, ensuring high‑quality financial insights, effective resource management, and measurable business impact. Working closely with clients and senior finance leaders, you will translate complex financial data into actionable strategies that support operational performance and long‑term growth. You will also mentor and develop a team of finance professionals while establishing consistent standards for analytical excellence and service delivery. The role combines hands‑on financial modeling, strategic advisory, and project leadership in a collaborative, technology‑driven environment. With a remote‑first work culture and opportunities to leverage AI and modern financial tools, this position offers the chance to shape financial processes and influence business outcomes across multiple organizations.

Accountabilities
  • Lead client engagements: Manage financial planning and analysis projects from planning through delivery, establishing project plans, timelines, budgets, and scopes of work. Assess additional client needs and prepare proposals for ad hoc services.
  • Manage and develop talent: Train, mentor, and supervise team members ranging from Associates to Senior Analysts, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance: Act as a trusted financial partner to clients, identifying key performance indicators (KPIs), financial drivers, and operational levers that support business objectives and improve performance.
  • Support financing strategies: Collaborate with senior finance leaders to execute financing initiatives, including equity and debt raises, and help clients evaluate funding opportunities.
  • Manage client relationships: Navigate challenging conversations, align expectations, communicate financial findings clearly, and contribute to renewal discussions and scope‑of‑work planning.
  • Develop financial models and reporting: Build and maintain financial forecasts, 13‑week cash flow projections, KPI dashboards, and reporting tools using Google Sheets. Create standardized templates to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Ensure analytical quality: Review financial models for accuracy, logic, and reliability; perform scenario analyses and stress tests; and translate complex results into clear, actionable insights.
  • Establish operational standards: Implement department‑wide quality assurance processes, standard operating procedures, and standardized workpapers. Investigate and resolve significant data discrepancies.
  • Leverage technology and AI: Identify practical, secure applications of AI and emerging technologies to improve analytical accuracy, streamline workflows, and enhance the client and employee experience.
  • Oversee engagement operations: Maintain accurate timekeeping, project budgets, utilization tracking, task management, and billing updates to support efficient departmental operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional experience: At least 6 years of experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) or accounting, including responsibility for leading client engagements, projects, or teams.
  • Financial and analytical expertise: Strong quantitative and problem‑solving skills, with demonstrated experience in financial modeling, forecasting, cash flow analysis, KPI reporting, and financial performance evaluation.
  • Technical proficiency: Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, with the ability to develop, review, and refine complex financial models. Familiarity with modern financial and project management tools is beneficial.
  • Project management: Proven ability to manage project scope, timelines, budgets, competing priorities, and deliverables while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Leadership and mentoring: Demonstrated ability to develop team members, coordinate cross‑functional work, and foster accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Communication and client management: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to explain financial concepts to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑paced environments, learning new software quickly, and managing changing client needs and expectations.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience supporting fundraising initiatives, including equity and debt raises, is an advantage. A CPA, CFA, or MBA is also considered a plus.
  • Remote work readiness: Ability to work effectively from a dedicated, professional home workspace with a reliable, high‑speed internet connection.
  • Technology mindset: Interest in applying AI tools responsibly and securely to improve financial analysis, workflows, and client deliverables.
Benefits
  • Competitive compensation: Annual salary ranging from $100,000 to $120,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
  • Remote‑first flexibility: Work remotely within the United States, with occasional overnight travel to Carmel, Indiana, approximately one to two times per year.
  • Paid time off: Paid time away from work to support rest, personal commitments, and work‑life balance.
  • Benefits package: Access to competitive employee benefits, including healthcare and other benefits as provided under the employer's benefits program.
  • Collaborative culture: Join a supportive, team‑oriented environment that values knowledge sharing, professional development, and collective success.
  • Modern technology: Work with a contemporary financial technology stack that includes QuickBooks Online, Fathom, LiveFlow, Karbon, Google Workspace, and Claude.
  • Professional impact: Help shape financial processes, develop talent, and deliver strategic insights that influence business performance across a diverse client portfolio.
  • Innovation and continuous improvement: Explore opportunities to implement AI‑enabled workflows and improve the quality, efficiency, and consistency of financial services.
