Job summary

ThriftBooks, the world's largest used book retailer, seeks a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis to lead forecasting, budgeting, and executive reporting. You will develop financial models and insights, partner with leaders, and drive growth through data-driven decision making in a hybrid Tukwila, WA role.

The role reports to the CFO, overseeing Finance Analysts, and focuses on profitability, margins, and strategic opportunities with board-level visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance required.
• 8-10 years of experience in an analytical role in finance, accounting, or business management.
• Experience with financial analysis, modeling, profitability analysis and/or auditing techniques.
• Experience analyzing financial and operational data to identify issues, trends, risks, and opportunities, and translating findings into clear recommendations for business leaders.
• Advanced Excel and SQL skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated to learn new concepts and participate in new projects.
• Passion for coaching and mentoring others.
• Expertise to manage projects to on-time completion with confidentiality and integrity.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with executives to provide analysis and evaluate strategic initiatives.
• Work alongside executive team to establish a strategic roadmap and growth targets.
• Partner with business leaders to frame decisions, evaluate alternatives, and recommend actions based on financial and operational insights.
• Create financial models, including forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning.
• Create internal & external executive reporting documents including board, close and other management presentations.
• Analyze monthly results and/or trending data to support the monthly estimate and include risk and opportunity assessments.
• Determine the appropriate processes, methodologies, variables, and modeling techniques to develop and deliver forecasts.
• Develop reports and monitor metrics for forecasting.
• Translate financial and operational data into actionable insights and recommendations that improve business decision making and drive profitable growth.
• Build outstanding and effective relationships with cross-functional teams.
