Job summary

Advanced Centrifugal is seeking an experienced Foundry Specialist to join our leadership team and drive day-to-day foundry operations. This hands-on role requires time on the melt deck and providing technical guidance to the crew to improve quality, throughput, and safety.

You will operate induction melting furnaces, monitor temperature, run and interpret spectrometer data, and lead refractory maintenance while mentoring newer operators and ensuring accurate heat records and production

Qualifications

• Experience operating induction melting furnaces in a foundry environment.
• Experience with furnace relining procedures.
• Proficiency with a spectrometer for chemical analysis.
• Basic shop math: fractions, decimals, percentages, unit conversions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor induction melting furnaces, including charge make-up, temperature control, and tapping.
• Run the spectrometer, interpret results, and adjust chemistry to hit spec.
• Lead furnace relining, patching, and routine refractory maintenance.
• Support production planning, troubleshooting, and process improvements.
• Enforce safety standards around molten metal handling, PPE, and lockout procedures.
• Train operators on melting practices, charge calculations, and quality checks.
• Maintain heat records, chemistry logs, and production documentation.

We're seeking an experienced Foundry Specialist to partner with our leadership team in day-to-day foundry operations. This is a hands-on role for someone who's spent real time on the melt deck and can serve as a technical resource for the rest of the crew. You'll help drive quality, throughput, and safety while mentoring less-experienced team members.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor induction melting furnaces, including charge make-up, temperature control, and tapping
• Run the spectrometer, interpret results, and make chemistry adjustments to hit spec
• Lead and participate in furnace relining, patching, and routine refractory maintenance
• Support the leadership team with production planning, troubleshooting, and process improvement
• Help enforce safety standards around molten metal handling, PPE, and equipment lockout
• Train and coach operators on melting practices, charge calculations, and quality checks
• Maintain accurate heat records, chemistry logs, and production documentation

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience operating induction melting furnaces in a foundry environment
• Experience with furnace relining procedures
• Proficiency in operating a spectrometer for chemical analysis
• Basic shop math skills (fractions, decimals, percentages, unit conversions)
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and work in a high-heat environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable attendance and punctuality

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in stainless steel melting and casting
• Knowledge of metallurgy and alloy composition
• Experience reading and interpreting work orders and production schedules

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods during shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally more
• Ability to work in a high-heat environment near furnaces and molten metal
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
