Job summary

DeKalb Brilliance Academy seeks an Assistant Teacher to lead rigorous, culturally responsive instruction at a growing K–8 founding school. You will work with the K‑2 Department Chair and a team to refine systems, curriculum, and school culture, supporting students daily.

You will collaborate with grade-level teams, engage families monthly, and participate in ongoing professional learning. The role requires a strong instructional skill set and a passion for equitable education.

Qualifications

• Valid Georgia clearance and paraprofessional certification required.
• Minimum two years teaching experience preferred (K-2 and/or reading instruction with explicit science of reading/phonics focus).
• Ability to meet physical demands of the role (standing, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs).

Responsibilities

• Facilitate rigorous, culturally responsive instruction across core subjects, SEL, and project-based learning.
• Maintain a growth-oriented mindset and drive student progress with reflection and perseverance.
• Collaborate with peers to plan units, analyze assessments, and improve instruction and curriculum.
• Partner with students and families to create Learning Partnership Plans with ambitious goals.
• Communicate with families at least once per month about student progress (phone, email, Dojo).
• Implement restorative approaches to build community and address issues.
• Participate in professional learning, coaching, and school-wide initiatives.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities aligned with a growing founding school.
