Job summary

Aptos is seeking the founding technical leader of its new Payments unit in the Bay Area. You will own the Aptos Payment API, guide partner integrations, and shape how banks, EMIs, PSPs, and wallet platforms interact with the stack.

You will hire and lead two engineers, decide build-vs-buy, and drive a pipeline of gating milestones tied to revenue. Expect work across KYC, settlement rails, and a testnet sandbox to let prospects try the stack before onboarding.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building payment infrastructure at production scale (PSP or orchestrator-class systems).
• Hands-on experience with chain-native settlement (stablecoin rails, wallet infra).
• Strong front-facing gravitas with banks, issuers, and regulated partners.
• Product engineering mindset: build from client needs, treat internal products as assets.
• Player-coach: ship code and hire people better than you in parts of the stack.

Responsibilities

• Own the Aptos Payment API: spec, ship, and run the API; design from partner requirements.
• Lead partner-facing engineering: intake, integrations, and technical diligence with banks and PSPs.
• Oversee trust infrastructure: revenue attribution, KYC/KYB, and a testnet sandbox for onboarding prospects.
• Own the payments seam in the trading stack: define API contracts and enable seamless handoffs.
• Hire and lead the first two engineers; guide build-vs-buy decisions with written memos.
