Job summary

Datalab is hiring a Founding Engineer to develop and evangelize our open source repos such as chandra, surya, marker, pdftext, and lift. You will ship features, run end-to-end launches, and build demos and benchmarks to showcase capabilities.

You’ll create technical content—blogs, guides, tutorials, and demos—to help developers adopt our tools, engage with the community, and shape future product direction in an early-stage startup.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building production software with meaningful open-source contributions.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills; fluent in Python, shipping real, reproducible, well-tested code.
• Track record of owning code end-to-end - design, release, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Own open source repos and SDK; drive features and end-to-end launches.
• Build demos, benchmarks, templates, and starter projects to showcase capabilities.
• Create technical content—blogs, docs, tutorials, demos—to help developers adopt our tools.
• Collaborate with product to incorporate developer feedback into roadmaps.
• Grow and engage the developer community across GitHub, Discord, X, Reddit and beyond.
