Solum Health is seeking an engineer to build AI agents that handle front-office insurance work for outpatient providers, including plan checks, prior approvals, and coverage gaps. You will drive production systems from version 1 to live use and work with language models on real traffic, connecting to diverse external systems.
You will collaborate across frontend, backend, and AI, while sitting with customer teams to roll out changes, write tests, and determine the required level of automation
The role is about building AI agents that handle insurance work for outpatient providers, such as checking what a plan covers, pushing prior approvals through, and spotting coverage a patient forgot to mention. A strong candidate has already run production systems from first version to live use, has worked with language models on real traffic, and is comfortable connecting to messy outside systems. Working across frontend, backend, and AI, and sitting with customer teams to roll things out, is part of the job.
The agents do the slow reading of documents and clicking through insurer websites, and the engineer's coding work is itself done mostly by directing coding agents. What stays human is reviewing every change, writing tests, deciding how accurate an automation needs to be, and judging when a case should go to a person. Talking with customer teams and understanding how their daily workflow really runs also stays human.
