Job summary

Equality Charter School in the Bronx, NY seeks a First Grade SPED Teacher for 2026-2027 to lead literacy and math instruction with a focus on social-emotional leadership. The founding ECES K-3 instructional team will open a new elementary program in Fall 2024 and expand through grade 5.

You will deliver daily literacy and math blocks, small-group instruction, and restorative practices, with compensation aligned to degree and credentialing.

Qualifications

• NYs Teaching Certification or pending NYS Certification for K-2 or 1-6.
• At least one year teaching Literacy or Math in K-5.
• Preference for CKLA and/or Eureka Squared experience.
• Strong MTSS-tiered classroom interventions understanding.

Responsibilities

• Daily community advisory time grounded in CASEL practices and restorative justice.
• Daily whole class literacy instruction, 2 blocks of 1 hour each (CKLA Amplify Skills; CKLA Amplify Listening & Learning).
• Homogeneous small reading groups in targeted instruction for 30 minutes daily.
• Daily recreational read-alouds (teacher's choice).
• Daily whole class math instruction, 1 hour (Eureka Squared).
• 1st grade teachers—homogeneous small math groups in targeted instruction for 35 minutes, four times per week.
