Job summary

Legal Prep Charter Academy in Indianapolis is seeking a flexible, student-centered Academic Interventionist & Building Substitute to join our founding team. This dual-role position provides classroom coverage when teachers are absent and targeted academic support to help students meet grade-level expectations.

As a founding staff member, you will collaborate with teachers and school leadership to build a positive culture, deliver small-group interventions in reading, writing, and math, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Indiana teaching license preferred or eligible for Indiana Substitute Teacher Permit.
• Experience with middle school and/or high school students preferred.
• Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Commitment to serving students from historically underserved communities.
• Opportunity to pursue a teaching pathway as the school grows.

Responsibilities

• Provide small-group and individual interventions in reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
• Support students below grade level with targeted instructional strategies.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to identify student needs and develop intervention plans.
• Monitor student progress and document interventions.
• Provide classroom coverage for teachers across grades 6 and 9.
• Deliver lesson plans prepared by classroom teachers.
• Maintain a structured, engaging, and productive classroom environment.
• Implement classroom management practices per Legal Prep expectations.
• Communicate with teachers about student progress during absences.
• Assist with school-wide initiatives and professional development.
