Job summary

The Buell Foundation in Colorado seeks a Director of Operations to lead day-to-day operations, HR, IT, and communications, reporting to the President & CEO. This executive role coordinates administrative activities in support of the foundation’s mission.

The successful candidate will manage budgets, payroll, contracts, IT security, governance materials, and board support, while partnering with the leadership team to ensure efficient, compliant operations and asset management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field required.
• Minimum of seven years of experience in operations/HR with increasing responsibility.
• Experience in nonprofit or foundation preferred.
• Experience in a small, team-oriented office environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Buell Foundation: supervise Office Manager, manage key contracts, monitor budgets and equipment needs.
• Provide in-house human resources support: payroll and benefits, recruitment, performance reviews.
• Manage information technology: hire IT contractors, liaison for staff, ensure information security.
• Supervise communications: keep website up to date, align materials with brand standards and Foundation mission.
• Board support: prepare board materials, draft minutes, monitor action items.
• Support President/CEO and Controller in finance and asset management: review financial statements and budgets, approve payments, assist with asset management.
