Job summary

GMA Foundations, in Boston, is seeking a full-time nonprofit accountant to provide a variety of accounting services for private foundation clients, reconcile investment reports, and prepare financial statements for auditing and reporting purposes.

The Accountant will work under the CFO, collaborating with client teams and operations staff, handling bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, audits, and tax filings while supporting internal controls and client onboarding.

Qualifications

• Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
• BA in accounting/finance or related certification.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Pro and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and produce accurate reports.
• Strong written and verbal communication and client management skills.

Responsibilities

• Handle client bookkeeping as per scope, including QuickBooks entry, checks, wires, and reconciliations.
• Reconcile investment activity and post to GL.
• Generate financial reports for board meetings and audits.
• Prepare budgets and budget-to-actual reports.
• Manage quarterly estimated tax payments and annual payout tracking.
• Oversee annual audit or review with external auditors and prepare schedules.
• Assist in tax return preparation and internal controls implementation.
• Communicate with banks, investment firms, and accountants.
