Job summary

The New Hampshire Charitable Foundation invites applications for a Senior Accountant to provide essential financial support, ensuring GAAP compliance and strong internal controls across the organization.

You will perform reconciliations, manage budgets and capital expenditures, and handle grant accounting and depreciation while collaborating with staff to deliver accurate reporting on time.

Qualifications

• Combination of education and experience equivalent to needs; preference for Accounting degree and nonprofit/public accounting background.
• Minimum 3–5 years related public or nonprofit accounting experience.
• Strong computer skills including MS Office and accounting software; Blackbaud Financial Edge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs reconciliations of complex accounts including investment pools and deferred gifts.
• Prepares annual operating budget, quarterly reforecast, and monitors budget to actual variances.
• Oversees general ledger expense allocations, account reconciliations, and journal entries with internal control compliance.
• Manages nonprofit loan program documents, payments, entries, and reconciliations.
• Handles quarterly grant accounting, revenue recognition, and unearned contributions.
• Accounts for plant, property and equipment and depreciation; reconciles asset accounts.
• Responds to donor inquiries with analyses and information.
• Provides backup to payroll, contributions processing, and payables; supports grant entry.
• Assists Controller with materials for Board presentations and audit preparation.
• Researches and implements relevant FASB/GAAP updates as needed.
