Job summary

Southern Oregon University seeks an experienced Foundation Accounting Manager to oversee the foundation’s financial operations alongside a contracted fractional CFO. Focus areas include financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and core accounting functions.

The role requires balancing priorities, providing excellent service to staff and donors, and applying analytical skills to improve systems and performance for the university’s giving programs. This is a full‑time on‑campus position.

Qualifications

• BA/BS/BBA in Accounting or related field, plus minimum 2 years of related experience.
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger management and reconciliations.
• Understanding of fund management databases, due-to/due-from accounting, and fund balances.
• Excellent computer skills including Excel, word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
• Knowledge of GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Maintain overall quality, integrity and compliance of the Raiser’s Edge and Fundriver databases.
• Supports the preparation of the SOU Foundation audit and financial statements.
• Create, review, and verify transactions for accuracy and audit trails.
• Prepare regular bank deposits and reconciliations; complete electronic deposits.
• Compile financial statements and reports for foundation committees and board meetings.
• Develop complex queries/exports/reports to support development staff and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with end users to gather requirements and provide training on reporting.
