Job summary

Creative Alternatives in California seeks a Counselor II to support youth in our STRTP facility. You will mentor, advocate, and provide trauma-informed care under supervision, helping children and young adults heal and grow.

Responsibilities include managing daily operations in the absence of a supervisor, writing progress notes, delivering individual and group services, crisis intervention, record-keeping, and collaboration with staff and outside agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Arts or Science degree.
• Two years’ full-time experience or equivalent, working with population to be served.
• DOJ, FBI, and Child Abuse index clearance.
• Valid California driver’s license with minimum 2 years’ driving experience.
• Read, write, and communicate effectively with diverse youth in a residential setting.
• Ability to document accurately and maintain child safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operation of the facility in the absence of a supervisor.
• Ensure care and supervision of children in accordance with laws and policies.
• Provide mental health services including individual and group rehabilitation.
• Write progress notes during each shift for each client.
• Conduct crisis intervention and maintain trauma informed approaches.
• Complete incident reports and maintain thorough documentation.
• Transport clients in company vehicles and participate in staff trainings.
