Job summary

Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services in Los Angeles is seeking a Youth Care Counselor to supervise, support and protect residents, helping them pursue education, career and housing goals.

You will be part of the TLS Program treatment team, setting tone and priorities, providing role modeling, documenting progress, and participating in mandatory trainings. CPR/First Aid certification is required, and driving residents as needed may be required.

• CPR and First Aid certifications are required.
• Excellent verbal communication and mentoring abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support, care, protection and supervision of residents.
• Document daily progress and maintain logs and communications with social worker.
• Drive residents in agency vehicles; as driver, CPR & First Aid certification required.
• Attend mandatory trainings and in-services as required.
• Assist residents with career, education and permanent housing goals.
• Maintain resident records and incident logs.
• Support residents with physical and emotional needs.
