Job summary

DC Government's Child and Family Services Agency seeks a Social Worker to support youth 14 and older in foster care, focusing on permanency and SOUL Family permanency. The role involves direct engagement with youth, families, and collateral resources to plan and implement services.

You will conduct home visits, develop case plans, respond to crises, maintain records, participate in court reviews, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to advance safe, stable families within the District.

Qualifications

• MSW from a CSWE-accredited program.
• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to grade 11 in DC government service.
• Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) required.
• Valid driver’s license or access to transportation.
• Evening and weekend work as required.

Responsibilities

• Works directly with youth 14+ in foster care to plan for permanency and successful adulthood.
• Conducts home visits, assessment of strengths/needs, and makes referrals.
• Develops and implements case assessments and plans to address abuse/neglect.
• Responds to crises and intervenes to address immediate problems.
• Maintains medical, social, and psychological histories and case management records.
• Participates in administrative reviews, court hearings, and interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Coordinates with families, youth, and support systems to meet goals.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
