Job summary

Jewish Child Care Association (JCCA) is seeking a dedicated parent advocate to support families with children in foster care, helping them understand and navigate the system and work toward reunification. The role emphasizes building connections with parents and collaborating with case planners.

The position focuses on empowering parents, coordinating with Family Team Conferences, and facilitating peer-led Councils while upholding confidentiality and trauma-informed practice.

Qualifications

• High School or GED completed with ability to engage families affected by foster care.
• Experience or understanding of child welfare cases and confidentiality requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships and support parents in coping with foster care trauma and decision-making.
• Prepare parents and participate in Family Team Conferences and related reviews.
• Provide guidance in treatment team conferences, court dates, and family visits.
• Facilitate parent support groups and coordinate with PACs.
• Participate in agency meetings to support case planning teams.
• Learn and apply parent advocate service models (PEP, Rise, Restorative Justice, etc.).
• Utilize Rise’s TIPS handouts to inform and support families.
• Develop protocols to engage families navigating child welfare and behavioral health systems.
• Recognize and celebrate progress toward reunification.
• Encourage interventions to strengthen families.
• Help families navigate resources.
• Contribute to defining successful roles for parent advocates.
• Coach parents to strengthen problem-solving and resilience.
• Participate in family visiting and home visits as needed.
• Provide coaching on case progression issues including visitation and court-orders.
• Collaborate with home finding and foster parent advocates for parent-to-parent work.
• Other duties as assigned.
