Job summary

JCCA in New York is seeking a Parent Advocate who partners with agency staff to help parents of children in foster care understand and navigate the system, make informed decisions, and pursue reunification. The role centers on building connections with families and collaborating with case planners.

You will help prepare families for Family Team Conferences, support groups, and various meetings, while guiding parents through resources, court dates, and visits.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Experience as a parent impacted by the child welfare system or having had a court-supervised involvement.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage families and support trauma, stress, and healing.

Responsibilities

• Build relationships with parents and support their decisions.
• Prepare parents for Family Team Conferences.
• Provide guidance in treatment team conferences, court dates, and family visits.
• Facilitate parent support groups and recruit PACs.
• Collaborate with case planning teams to advocate for parents.
• Travel to NYC boroughs and Westchester to support families.
• Other duties as assigned.
