Job summary

Valley First Credit Union in Modesto, CA seeks a forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer to guide growth, performance, and member value for a $1.1B credit union. You will report to the President & CEO and work with the Board and senior leadership.

Lead ALM, liquidity, investments, balance sheet strategy, and financial planning. Oversee risk management, internal controls, and regulatory compliance while mentoring finance teams and supporting product strategy and growth initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
• MBA preferred; CPA is a plus.
• At least 10 years of accounting/financial management experience.
• At least 8 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience working with auditors and regulatory agencies.
• Strong knowledge of financial institution regulations, investments, ALM, financial reporting, and strategic planning.

Responsibilities

• Strengthen financial planning, forecasting, and scenario modeling to support informed decisions.
• Lead ALM, liquidity, capital, investments, and balance sheet strategy with confidence and discipline.
• Provide clear insight into financial performance, profitability, NIM, ROA, non-interest income, and long-term sustainability.
• Support lending, payments, product strategy, and growth initiatives through strong financial analysis and sound risk management.
• Maintain strong internal controls, audit readiness, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting integrity.
• Lead and develop finance, accounting, and payments teams with a focus on accountability, continuous improvement, and service.
• Bring curiosity, ownership, and practical business judgment to both strategic and operational decisions.
