Overjoy in New York City is seeking a senior legal professional to design and deploy AI-assisted workflows for consumer brands evolving retailer, distributor, and service agreements. You will partner with customers and counsel to translate positions into actionable processes and oversee quality within your scope.
You will own drafting, negotiation, and evaluation of AI-driven solutions, guiding lawyers and engineers while maintaining confidentiality and privilege.
Overjoy is an AI-native sales company for SMBs. We began as a sales platform for consumer brands, then expanded to running the full sales process end-to-end and selling the outcome.
Every consumer brand needs a wholesale department: someone to find the right retailers, reach out, close the account, and keep it reordering. For most brands that department is too expensive to hire. Overjoy runs it for them with people, AI agents, and the software we spent years building for exactly this job.
Over 800 brands like Nature's Path, Milk Bar, and Simply Gum use Overjoy to grow wholesale revenue.
We're backed by Bessemer, OSV, Floodgate and founders of Thumbtack, CareRev, Ando, and Unsupervised - and 6 of our own customers invested after using the product.

This is a full-time, in-person role based in New York City.
Consumer brands navigate retailer agreements, distributor terms, vendor contracts, and a growing volume of legal work as they scale. You'll bring senior legal judgment to the design and deployment of AI-assisted workflows that help customer teams handle that work consistently.
You'll work directly with customers and their counsel to understand how matters are handled, translate approved legal positions into practical workflows, and help our engineers build tools lawyers can trust. You'll own the quality of the legal work within your authorized scope and know when a matter needs specialist counsel.
Map customer contracting and legal operations, identify bottlenecks, and define deployment priorities with business stakeholders and counsel.
Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements within the scope of your licensure and engagement, including retailer, distributor, supplier, and service agreements.
Turn approved legal positions into clause libraries, contract playbooks, intake questions, escalation rules, and obligation-tracking workflows.
Evaluate AI-assisted drafting, extraction, and review against source documents and approved standards; identify missed issues and require attorney review where judgment is needed.
Work with product and engineering on representative test matters, clear acceptance criteria, and improvements informed by actual customer use.
Train customer teams, measure turnaround time and review quality, and maintain appropriate confidentiality, privilege, conflict, and access practices throughout each engagement.
JD and active admission in good standing to a U.S. bar, with authorization to perform the legal work required by the role.
7+ years of legal practice, including substantial commercial contracting experience and independent ownership of complex matters.
Sound judgment on contract risk, negotiation priorities, confidentiality, and when to involve specialist counsel.
Experience advising business teams and communicating legal issues in clear, practical language.
Hands-on experience using legal AI or workflow automation, with the ability to identify inaccurate outputs and design meaningful review standards.
Consumer products, retail, distribution, privacy, legal operations, or legal technology experience is a plus.
Annual base salary of $250,000-$280,000 USD, based on relevant experience and role-related skills.
Health, dental, and vision insurance (U.S.).
Free lunch.
The opportunity to shape a new role at the intersection of domain expertise, customer outcomes, and AI.
