Job summary

FIS is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed directly with Tier-1 bank clients, translating modernization goals into production software. You will ship code, design integrations, and build trust with bank engineering leadership, operating with startup-level autonomy but within FIS scale.

This role covers building proofs of concept, end-to-end bank use cases, data pipelines, and durable integration patterns. Travel to client sites 25–50% as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven track record shipping robust, scalable infrastructure in Go or similar systems languages.
• Deep experience with Kafka, concurrency patterns, event-driven architectures, and multi-region databases.
• Strong background in AWS, GCP, or Azure; SRE principles, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes/OpenShift.
• Experience building data-intensive systems and distributed data pipelines.
• AI-native engineer with familiarity with LLM capabilities and agentic development patterns.
• 4+ years in a technical, customer-facing role.
• Fintech / banking knowledge preferred.
• High agency and ownership mindset; thrives in ambiguity.
• Able to switch between coding, architecture, and leading workshops.

• Embed with bank teams to translate needs into technical requirements.
• Design future-state bank architecture to unlock accelerated innovation.
• Build trusted relationships with bank engineering and architecture leadership.
• Translate patterns and needs from deployments into product requirements and platform improvements.
• Build proofs of concept and end-to-end bank use cases; integrate systems.
• Travel to client sites as needed (25-50% depending on engagement phase).
