Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with enterprise customers, designing and building AI-powered production systems.

You will own production end-to-end—from prototype through enterprise deployment— and mentor engineers while advancing reusable patterns and reference architectures across AWS. Role requires 30–50% travel and deep expertise in AI, multi-agent orchestration, data integration, and scalable software design.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale (developing AI agents a plus).
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred).
• Experience building or deploying AI/ML applications at enterprise production scale (preferred).
• 3+ years of experience in Agile/startup environments (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams and translate business problems into scalable AI-enabled production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows with optimization for latency, reliability, and security.
• Own production from design to rollout, with monitoring, testing, CI/CD, and rollback mechanisms.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption across customer workflows and codify reusable patterns.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to AWS engineering best practices for AI and forward deployment.
